Updated: · Based on official UAE sources

A UAE traffic fine discount exists in some emirates, but not in all of them, and many offers online have already expired. Abu Dhabi and Sharjah run schemes with no published end date that cut your fine by 35% if you pay within 60 days. Dubai has no confirmed early payment discount. Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah have no standing scheme confirmed from official sources, only short campaigns, usually around National Day.

Each figure below is checked against an official announcement and dated. Each offer carries one of three labels: Standing (announced with no end date), Ended or Not confirmed.

Quick Answer

Yes, you can get a discount on traffic fines in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah right now. Both give 35% off if you pay within 60 days of the violation, and 25% off after 60 days up to one year. Serious violations are excluded. Dubai and the northern emirates have no standing discount confirmed from the official sources we checked.

What Is a UAE Traffic Fine Discount?

It is a reduction in the money you owe for a traffic violation. People use the word for four different things, so keep them apart.

TypeWhat it reducesHow long it lastsExample
Standing discountThe fine amountAlways available, with a time windowAbu Dhabi and Sharjah 35% and 25%

Which Emirates Give a Traffic Fine Discount Right Now?

Abu Dhabi and Sharjah give a discount with no published end date. No other emirate has a standing scheme confirmed by the official sources we checked.

Abu Dhabi: 35% and 25% Under “Pay Early, Gain Surely”

Abu Dhabi Police runs a scheme called Pay Early, Gain Surely. We found no end date in any Abu Dhabi Police announcement.

  • 35% off if you pay within 60 days of the violation
  • 25% off if you pay after 60 days but within one year
  • Severe violations are excluded
  • Abu Dhabi Police reported that about 1.4 million motorists used the scheme in 2024, up 20.77% from 2023

You can pay on the Abu Dhabi Police website, the TAMM platform, the Abu Dhabi Police smart app, or at customer service centres. For the full fine schedule, see our Abu Dhabi traffic fines list.

Sharjah: 35% and 25% Under the Executive Council Decision

The Sharjah Executive Council approved this scheme on 8 July 2025. Read the decision on the Sharjah Executive Council website.

  • 35% off if you pay within 60 days of the violation
  • 25% off if you pay after 60 days but within one year
  • Serious traffic violations are excluded
Sharjah Executive Council announcement approving the 35% and 25% traffic fine discount

The decision text states no end date, and Sharjah Police promoted the same rates again in its November 2025 National Day announcement. We have not found a newer official statement changing them, so we label it Standing. Confirm the rate on the portal before you pay.

The 35% rate covers more than the fine. According to the Council, it also applies to the impoundment period, vehicle storage fees and late penalties. The 25% rate applies to the fine only. Pay through the Sharjah Police website or the MOI UAE app. Our Sharjah traffic fines check guide explains each step.

Dubai: Why There Is No Confirmed Standing Discount

We found no official Dubai early payment discount. Many websites list one, but none of the pages we reviewed cite a current Dubai Police source.

Older articles describe a Dubai Police clean-record scheme that cut fines for drivers who stayed violation-free for 3 to 12 months. We found no current Dubai Police page confirming it is still running, so treat it as Not confirmed and check with Dubai Police before relying on it.

Dubai Police also warned in August 2025 that unverified discount offers are a crime. Dubai does offer instalments, covered below. For Dubai fines and amounts, see our Dubai traffic fines list.

Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah: Campaigns Only

These four emirates announce short discount campaigns, mostly around National Day. No standing scheme is confirmed in the official sources we checked, which is not proof that none exists. For Fujairah, see our Fujairah traffic fine check guide. For Ajman, see our Ajman fines check guide.

How to Check If a Discount Applies to Your Fine

Open the official portal for the emirate that issued the fine. It shows your final amount.

Not sure which emirate issued your fine? Use our guide to check fines with your Emirates ID. Parking tickets follow separate rules, which our Dubai parking fines guide covers.

Always read the final amount on the portal. If it shows a discount, that is the figure you pay. If it does not, no discount applies to that fine.

How the 60 Day Rule Works

The 60 day window starts on the violation date, not the day you discover the fine. Abu Dhabi and Sharjah both measure from the violation.

This matters most for fines you do not see right away, such as camera fines.

A Simple Example

You receive an AED 1,000 fine in Abu Dhabi.

When you payDiscountYou pay
Day 4535%AED 650
Day 9025%AED 750
After 1 yearNoneAED 1,000

Check the final amount shown on the official portal before paying.

Is There a 50% Traffic Fine Discount in the UAE?

No 50% discount is active in 2026 from any source we could confirm. The 50% offers were short campaigns that have ended.

  • Dubai: no official Dubai Police 50% discount found
  • Abu Dhabi: the official scheme is 35% and 25%, not 50%
  • Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah: each ran 50% in late 2024, all ended

To get 50% off in future, you would need a new official campaign and a violation dated before its cut off. Nothing can be claimed today.

Can You Get a Discount on an Overdue Fine?

It depends on how old the fine is.

Fine ageAbu Dhabi and SharjahWhat to do
Under 60 days35%Pay now
8 months25%Pay now
Over 1 yearNone in the published termsCheck the portal, watch for a campaign

Do not wait for a campaign on an overdue fine. Unpaid fines can block registration renewal.

Are There National Day and Eid Traffic Fine Discounts in 2026?

We found no official National Day 2026 discount announcement as of 7 October 2026. National Day is on 2 December. In 2024 and 2025, police authorities announced their offers in late November. National Day 2027 falls on 2 and 3 December, as shown in our UAE public holidays calendar.

How to Prepare Before a Campaign Opens

  • List your unpaid fines and note each violation date
  • Keep your Emirates ID and plate number ready
  • Watch the police websites and the Ministry of Interior for announcements
  • Compare the cut off date with your violation date, because campaigns only cover older violations

Which Violations Do Not Get a Discount?

Serious violations do not get a discount. Every official announcement we reviewed excludes them, though the exact list changes by emirate and campaign.

  • Abu Dhabi: severe violations excluded
  • Sharjah: serious traffic violations excluded
  • Past Ajman campaign: endangering lives, red light jumping and speeding 80 km/h or more over the limit were excluded
  • Past UAQ and northern emirate campaigns: serious violations excluded

Reckless driving and driving under the influence are the usual examples.

Does a Traffic Fine Discount Remove Black Points or Impoundment?

No standing discount removes black points. Abu Dhabi and Sharjah announce their early payment schemes as reductions in money owed, and Sharjah’s 35% rate also covers impoundment and storage charges. Black points need a separate measure.

What Can Reduce Black Points

  • Campaign waivers: Sharjah’s December 2025 offer cancelled points for eligible older violations
  • Day Without Accidents: the Ministry of Interior campaign cancels four black points for drivers who register, sign a safety pledge and complete the day without a violation. The 2026 day was 31 August
  • Dubai White Points: a Dubai Police reward scheme for drivers with a clean record. We could not confirm the current rules from an official page, so check Dubai Police before relying on it

For the full process, read our guide on how to remove black points from a licence in the UAE.

Can You Pay UAE Traffic Fines in Instalments?

Yes, in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Instalments do not reduce the fine. They spread the cost, with no interest.

Abu Dhabi: Zero Interest Up to 12 Months

  • Pay monthly through participating banks’ credit cards, including ADCB, ADIB, FAB, Mashreq and Emirates Islamic
  • Contact your bank to arrange the plan

Dubai: Fines of AED 3,000 or More

  • Only fines issued by Dubai Police qualify, not fines from other emirates
  • Your Emirates ID must match the registered vehicle owner
  • You can choose 3, 6 or 12 months
  • The bank must approve your application
  • Apply on the Dubai Police website by choosing Pay via Direct Debit Instalments

Participating banks and rules can change, so confirm on Dubai Police before applying.

Other Emirates

We could not confirm a published instalment scheme in Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain or Fujairah. Ask the local police authority or your bank.

Can You Request a Traffic Fine Reduction in Abu Dhabi?

Yes. The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) runs an online service that lets you ask for a traffic violation to be referred to court for a reduced fine. It is a request, not a right.

Abu Dhabi Judicial Department Reduction Request

Since October 2024, the ADJD service uses an AI system and works 24 hours a day.

  • Go to adjd.gov.ae, open Prosecutions, then choose the request to refer traffic violations to court
  • Sign in with UAE PASS and attach your violation report from the TAMM app
  • The system gives an instant decision with a link to pay the reduced fine, and the verdict is issued online after payment

How to Spot a Fake Traffic Fine Discount Offer

Treat any private offer as a scam. Real discounts appear only on official government and police channels.

How the Dubai Police Scam Worked

In August 2025, Dubai Police reported a scheme that advertised fake 70% fine discounts on social media. The fraudsters collected cash from victims, then paid the full fines using stolen card details. Dubai Police said unverified discount offers are a crime punishable by law.

Five Red Flags

  • The offer arrives by direct message or an unknown account
  • You must pay cash or send money to a person
  • The seller asks for card details or a one time code
  • There is no link to an official police or government site
  • The discount is far higher than any announced scheme

Pay only through official police websites, TAMM, the MOI UAE app or Emirates Vehicle Gate.

Discounts for Rental Cars, Tourists and Company Vehicles

A discount depends on the issuing authority and the violation, not on whether the car is private, rented or owned by a company. The window runs from the violation date, so speed matters. How the fine reaches you differs, as below.

  • Rental cars: the rental company may bill the renter or add an admin fee under its contract. Ask for the violation date as soon as you hear about a fine
  • Tourists: you can check a fine by plate number even after you leave, so pay inside the window if you can
  • Company vehicles: track fines by plate number and pay each one before its 60 day mark

Mistakes That Cost You the Discount

  • Counting 60 days from the day you saw the fine, not the violation date
  • Assuming Dubai follows the Abu Dhabi or Sharjah rate
  • Expecting a campaign to cover violations committed after its cut off date
  • Waiting for a National Day offer when your fine is already close to the 60 day mark
  • Ignoring unpaid fines until renewal, when they block the process. Read our guide on vehicle registration renewal in the UAE

Last Verified and How We Check

Last verified: 7 October 2026.

We confirm each figure against the official body that announced it: Abu Dhabi Police, the Sharjah Executive Council, Dubai Police, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department and the Ministry of Interior. We label every offer as Standing, Ended or Not confirmed.

  • Next review: late November 2026, when National Day offers are usually announced
  • Fines are set under the federal traffic law (Federal Decree-Law No. 14 of 2024) and its implementing decisions, but each emirate sets its own discount policy
  • Rates and campaigns change, so confirm the amount on the official portal before paying

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a UAE traffic fine discount right now?

Yes, in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Both give 35% off within 60 days of the violation and 25% off from 60 days up to one year. Serious violations are excluded. Other emirates only run short campaigns.

Which emirate gives the highest traffic fine discount?

Campaigns in Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah offered 50% in late 2024, but they ended. Umm Al Quwain also ran a 40% campaign from 1 December 2025 to 9 January 2026 on violations committed before 1 December 2025, and it has ended too. The highest active rate today is 35%, in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Our Umm Al Quwain traffic fine check guide shows how to check and pay UAQ fines.

How many days do I have to pay a traffic fine to get the discount?

You have 60 days from the violation date for 35% in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. After that, you get 25% until one year passes. The published terms state no discount after one year.

Does Dubai have a traffic fine discount?

We found no official Dubai Police early payment discount, and an older clean-record scheme is not confirmed as active. Dubai Police does offer interest-free instalments for fines of AED 3,000 or more. Always check the amount on the Dubai Police portal.

Is the Abu Dhabi traffic fine discount still active?

Yes. Abu Dhabi Police runs it under Pay Early, Gain Surely, and we found no end date in its announcements. It gives 35% within 60 days and 25% up to one year.

Will there be a National Day traffic fine discount in 2026?

We found no official announcement as of 7 October 2026. Police authorities announced offers in late November in 2024 and 2025, before National Day on 2 December.

Does a traffic fine discount remove black points?

No standing discount removes black points. Only separate measures do, such as campaign waivers and the Ministry of Interior’s Day Without Accidents campaign.

Can I pay traffic fines in instalments without interest?

Yes, in Abu Dhabi for up to 12 months through participating banks, and in Dubai for Dubai Police fines of AED 3,000 or more over 3, 6 or 12 months. Bank approval applies.

Do serious violations get a discount?

No. Official schemes exclude serious violations, such as reckless driving and driving under the influence. The exact list varies by emirate and campaign.

How can I tell if a traffic fine discount offer is a scam?

Check where the offer comes from. Real discounts appear only on official police and government channels. Offers by private message, cash payment requests or card detail requests are red flags.

Can I request a traffic fine reduction?

In Abu Dhabi, yes. The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department’s online service lets you attach your violation report from TAMM and gives an instant decision, with a link to pay the reduced fine if approved.

Do rental car fines qualify for a discount?

They can, if the issuing emirate offers one, because the discount depends on the fine and not the car’s ownership. The window runs from the violation date, so ask the rental company for it quickly. Any company admin fee is set by the contract.

Is there a 50% discount on traffic fines?

Not today. The 50% offers in Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah were short campaigns in late 2024 and have ended, and we found no official Dubai Police 50% discount. Dubai Police warned in August 2025 that unverified discount offers are a crime. Today’s highest confirmed rate is 35%.

What is the current traffic fine discount in Ras Al Khaimah for 2026?

We found no current RAK Police discount. The last RAK offer we could confirm was 50% from 1 to 31 December 2024. Watch RAK Police announcements before National Day on 2 December.

Can I get a discount if my fine is already overdue?

It depends on its age. Under the Abu Dhabi and Sharjah schemes, a fine 8 months old still gets 25%. A fine 14 months old has no discount in the published terms, but a campaign may cover it, because campaigns target older violations. Pay anyway, since unpaid fines can block registration renewal.

Does the traffic fine discount apply automatically?

If your violation qualifies, the issuing authority’s payment system should show the reduced amount. Read the final payable amount before you complete payment. If no discount shows, none applies.

Conclusion

The best discount is the one you claim in time. In Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, that means paying within 60 days of the violation for 35% off. Waiting a few weeks can cost you 10 percentage points.

Three actions protect your money. First, note the violation date, not the date you found the fine. Second, read the final amount on the official portal before paying. Third, ignore any offer that does not come from a police or government channel.

If a fine is too large to pay at once, use instalments in Abu Dhabi or Dubai. If you have a strong case, ask for a reduction in Abu Dhabi. And if you live in the northern emirates, watch for announcements before 2 December 2026.
