Editorial Policy
How The UAE Times researches, verifies, updates and corrects its guides on UAE visas, labour law, fines, insurance and business setup.
Our readers use our guides to make real decisions about visas, jobs, fines and money. That is why every rule, fee and deadline we publish should be traceable to an official source, and why we fix mistakes openly when we find them.
Who Writes Our Guides
Guides on The UAE Times are researched and written by Anees, who covers UAE visas, labour law, traffic fines, government services, health insurance and business setup. You can read more about his background on his author page and on our About page.
The UAE Times is an independent publication. We are not a government body and are not affiliated with MOHRE, ICP, GDRFA, RTA, the FTA or any other authority we write about.
The Sources We Use
We build our guides on primary, official sources wherever they exist:
- 1The official UAE Government Portal (u.ae) and federal laws published on uaelegislation.gov.ae.
- 2Federal and emirate authorities such as MOHRE, ICP, GDRFA Dubai, the Federal Tax Authority, RTA, the police forces of each emirate, DHA and DoH Abu Dhabi.
- 3Official decisions, resolutions and announcements, including government media offices.
Each guide links to the official pages it relies on, so you can check the rule at its source. News reports are used only to point us to a change, and we confirm the change with the official source before relying on it.
How We Verify Information
Before a guide is published, its key facts are checked against the official source: fees, fines, deadlines, eligibility rules, required documents and application steps.
When official sources say different things, or a rule is unclear, we say so in the article instead of guessing. Where a figure is commonly repeated online but we cannot find it in an official source, we point that out.
Keeping Guides Up to Date
UAE rules, fees and procedures change often. We review our guides when an official change is announced and revise the affected articles. Each guide shows the date it was last updated, and many guides include an updates section listing what changed.
Corrections Policy
If you believe something in one of our guides is wrong or out of date, please tell us. Email contact@theuaetimes.ae or use our Contact page, and include the page link and, if possible, the official source that shows the correct information.
- 1We check every report against the official source.
- 2Confirmed errors are corrected as promptly as possible.
- 3Significant corrections are noted in the article so readers know what changed.
Screenshots, Images and Illustrations
Screenshots of official websites are labelled "Screenshot" in their caption, name the official website they come from, link to it, and show the month they were captured. Official portals can change their design after that date.
Other images, such as featured images and info-graphics, are illustrations made with design and AI image tools to summarise a topic. They are not official documents, and the article text and the linked official sources always take priority over them.
Independence and Advertising
Advertisers and partners do not decide what we write or how we explain a rule. Any sponsored content or paid placement is clearly labelled as such. Details of advertising on this website are covered in our Disclaimer.
Information, Not Advice
Our guides explain how UAE rules generally work. They are not legal, immigration, tax or financial advice. Your own case can depend on your nationality, visa type, employer, emirate or free zone, so always confirm with the relevant authority or a licensed professional before acting. Read our full Disclaimer for details.
