Before checking your fine, you can check your UAE visa status online to confirm whether it’s expired or cancelled.

If your visa was issued in Dubai — GDRFA

1. Go to GDRFA Dubai and open the Fines Inquiry service.
2. Choose how to search: passport number, UDB number, file number, Emirates ID, or Unified ID (UID).
3. Enter your details (may also ask for date of birth and nationality) and complete the CAPTCHA.
4. Submit. If you have fines, you’ll see the type, amount, and date.

Prefer to do it in person? An Amer centre in Dubai, an ICP typing centre elsewhere, or the immigration counter at any airport or land border can pull it up. Take your Emirates ID and a copy of your passport and visa page.

What Details Do You Need to Check a UAE Overstay Fine?

The details required depend on where your visa was issued and which government system you use.

For Dubai-issued visas, GDRFA Dubai’s Fines Inquiry service allows searches using a File Number, UDB Number, Emirates ID, or Passport Number, plus nationality, file type, and date of birth depending on the search method.

• Tourist visa, 12 days over: 12 × AED 50 = AED 600. No exit permit needed (under 30 days).
• Visit visa, 45 days over: 45 × AED 50 = AED 2,250, plus the exit permit (~AED 300) = about AED 2,550.

Pay online: ICP Smart Services portal, GDRFA Dubai portal (for Dubai-issued visas)

Pay in-person: ICP-registered typing centres, Amer Centres in Dubai, airport immigration counters

Can a UAE Overstay Fine Be Waived or Reduced?

Waivers are not automatic. Each case is reviewed individually by ICP or GDRFA. Approval is never guaranteed.

Grounds that may qualify: serious medical emergency (hospital admission records required), confirmed flight cancellation with airline documentation, natural disaster or force majeure preventing departure.

As of 29 August 2026, there is no active general UAE visa overstay fine suspension or amnesty. The UAE has run broad amnesty programmes before, a major one in 2018, and again from September to December 2024.

There was a limited emergency waiver for tourists and visit-visa holders stranded by regional airspace disruptions, running from 28 February 2026 until ICP officially closed it on 21 April 2026. That waiver is no longer active — standard fines apply from that date onward.

How to apply for a waiver: submit a formal written justification letter to ICP (all emirates except Dubai) or GDRFA (Dubai), with your passport copy, expired visa copy, and supporting evidence. For travel ban cases, visiting a GDRFA office directly tends to work better than the online portal.
