The Dubai metro map shows two operating lines, the Red Line and the Green Line, with 55 stations across about 90 km of track. The two lines meet at Union and BurJuman, and two Red Line stations, Sobha Realty and DMCC, connect with the Dubai Tram. Once you know the two terminals of each line and where they cross, getting around Dubai by Metro is simple.
This guide lists every station in order with its official RTA code, explains the Red Line split at National Paints, and shows the stations closest to the airport and major landmarks. For the official interactive version, open the RTA Metro and tram stations map.
The Dubai metro map shows the Red Line running from Centrepoint to Expo 2020 and Life Pharmacy, and the Green Line running from e& to Creek, with interchanges at Union and BurJuman. The Red Line covers 35 stations and the Green Line covers 20.

Here is the network in numbers:
| Line | Route | Stations | Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Red Line | Centrepoint to Expo 2020, with a branch to Life Pharmacy | 35 | About 67 km |
| Green Line | e& to Creek | 20 | About 22.5 km |
| Total network | Two lines meeting at Union and BurJuman | 55 | About 90 km |
The Red Line follows Sheikh Zayed Road through the business and mall districts, while the Green Line loops through older Deira and Bur Dubai neighbourhoods on both sides of Dubai Creek.
The RTA timetable page lists the Red Line between Centrepoint (R11) and Expo 2020 (R76) or Life Pharmacy (R42), and the Green Line between e& (G11) and Creek (G30).
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) publishes the official Dubai Metro network map, timetables and service updates on its website and in its apps.
Station names on the official map change when naming rights are sold, so always check the latest RTA map if a station name on an older map does not match the sign at the platform.
The Dubai Metro Red Line runs 25 stations from Centrepoint (R11) to National Paints (R38), where it splits into the Route 2020 branch of six stations to Expo 2020 and the Life Pharmacy branch of four stations. The codes below are the official RTA station codes:
| Section | Stations in order |
|---|---|
| Airport and Deira | R11 Centrepoint, R12 Emirates, R13 Airport Terminal 3, R14 Airport Terminal 1, R15 Al Garhoud, R16 City Centre Deira, R17 Al Rigga, R18 Union |
| Bur Dubai and Trade Centre | R19 BurJuman, R20 ADCB, R21 Max, R22 World Trade Centre, R23 Emirates Towers, R24 Financial Centre |
| Downtown and Al Quoz | R25 Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall, R26 Business Bay, R29 Garmin, R31 Equiti |
| Al Barsha to Jebel Ali | R32 Mall of the Emirates, R33 InsuranceMarket, R34 Dubai Internet City, R35 Al Fardan Exchange, R36 Sobha Realty, R37 DMCC, R38 National Paints |
| Route 2020 branch | R70 The Gardens, R71 Discovery Gardens, R72 Al Furjan, R73 Jumeirah Golf Estates, R74 Dubai Investment Park, R76 Expo 2020 |
| Life Pharmacy branch | R39 Ibn Battuta, R40 Energy, R41 Danube, R42 Life Pharmacy |
The Red Line splits at National Paints (R38), the station formerly called Jabal Ali, with one branch going to Expo 2020 and the other going to Ibn Battuta, Energy, Danube and Life Pharmacy. Trains from Centrepoint run through to one of the two branches, so check the destination on the platform screen before you board.
If you board the wrong train, get off at National Paints and take the next train towards the other branch, following the platform signs. This is the most common mistake new riders make on the Red Line.
The Dubai Metro Green Line runs 20 stations from e& (G11) in Al Qusais to Creek (G30) near Al Jaddaf, crossing the Red Line at Union (G20) and BurJuman (G26).

Here are the Green Line stations in order with their RTA codes:
| Section | Stations in order |
|---|---|
| Al Qusais and Al Nahda | G11 e&, G12 Al Qusais, G13 Dubai Airport Free Zone, G14 Al Nahda, G15 Stadium, G16 Al Qiyadah |
| Deira | G17 Abu Hail, G18 Abu Baker Al Siddique, G19 Salah Al Din, G20 Union, G21 Baniyas Square, G22 Gold Souq |
| Old Dubai and Bur Dubai | G23 Al Ras, G24 Al Ghubaiba, G25 Sharaf DG, G26 BurJuman |
| Oud Metha to Creek | G27 Oud Metha, G28 Dubai Healthcare City, G29 Al Jadaf, G30 Creek |
The Green Line is the better choice for the Gold Souq, the Al Ras and Al Ghubaiba heritage area and Dubai Healthcare City, which the Red Line does not reach.
You can change between the Red Line and Green Line at Union and BurJuman, and between the Red Line and the Dubai Tram at Sobha Realty and DMCC.
| Interchange station | Connects | Useful for |
|---|---|---|
| Union (R18 and G20) | Red Line and Green Line | Deira, Baniyas and the Gold Souq |
| BurJuman (R19 and G26) | Red Line and Green Line | Bur Dubai, Karama and Oud Metha |
| Sobha Realty (R36) | Red Line and Dubai Tram | Dubai Marina and JBR by tram |
| DMCC (R37) | Red Line and Dubai Tram | Jumeirah Lakes Towers and the Marina |
| National Paints (R38) | Both Red Line branches | Switching between Expo 2020 and Life Pharmacy trains |
Interchange stations are larger and busier at peak hours, so allow a few extra minutes to walk between platforms.
Dubai International Airport has two Red Line stations, Airport Terminal 1 and Airport Terminal 3, and both sit close to the start of the line near Centrepoint.
The Dubai Airports Metro page confirms Red Line connections from Terminals 1 and 3 and advises travelling with up to two pieces of luggage, including hand luggage. Travellers with more bags usually find a taxi easier than the train.
The Dubai metro map is easiest to use when you match each landmark to its station. These are the stations most visitors and residents look for:
| Place | Nearest station | Line |
|---|---|---|
| Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall | Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall | Red |
| Mall of the Emirates | Mall of the Emirates | Red |
| Museum of the Future | Emirates Towers | Red |
| DIFC | Financial Centre | Red |
| Dubai World Trade Centre | World Trade Centre | Red |
| Dubai Marina and JBR | Sobha Realty or DMCC, then the tram | Red |
| Expo City Dubai | Expo 2020 | Red |
| Ibn Battuta Mall | Ibn Battuta | Red branch |
| Gold Souq | Gold Souq | Green |
| Al Ghubaiba bus station and old Dubai | Al Ghubaiba | Green |
| City Centre Deira | City Centre Deira | Red |
Business Bay station sits on Sheikh Zayed Road, so expect a short walk or feeder bus to reach most towers in the Business Bay district.
Dubai Metro fares depend on how many fare zones you cross, not on the number of stations, with Silver card fares of AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two adjacent zones and AED 7.50 for longer trips. Gold Class costs double and the paper Red Ticket costs a little more.
The RTA requires at least AED 7.50 on your card to pass the gate and recommends keeping AED 15. Our guide to the nol card balance check shows every way to check your balance before you travel.
Dubai Metro Red Line and Green Line trains usually start at 5am from Monday to Saturday and at 8am on Sunday, with later closing on Friday nights.
| Day | Usual operating hours |
|---|---|
| Monday to Thursday | 5am to midnight |
| Friday | 5am to 1am the next day |
| Saturday | 5am to midnight |
| Sunday | 8am to midnight |
These hours match the RTA timetable page for all Metro lines.
The RTA extends or changes these hours for public holidays and big events, such as the Dubai Marathon, which opened the Metro at 5am on Sunday 1 February 2026. Check the RTA app before late night or holiday travel, and see our list of UAE public holidays and long weekends when planning around a holiday.
Every Dubai Metro train has a Gold Class cabin, a cabin reserved for women and children, and standard cabins for all passengers.
Riding in the wrong cabin can lead to a fine, so look for the floor and door markings before the train arrives.
Two new lines will change the Dubai metro map: the Blue Line, which the RTA has scheduled to open on 9 September 2029, and the Gold Line, approved in April 2026 for a 2032 opening.
The Blue Line will add 30 km of track and 14 stations, with about 15.5 km underground and 14.5 km elevated. One route starts at the Green Line near Creek and Al Jaddaf and runs through Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, Ras Al Khor, International City, Dubai Silicon Oasis and Academic City.
A second route links the Red Line at Centrepoint with Mirdif, Al Warqa and International City. The line also includes a long bridge over Dubai Creek.
The Gold Line will run 42 km underground with 18 stations from Al Ghubaiba to Jumeirah Golf Estates, according to the Dubai Media Office announcement. It will serve Mina Rashid, City Walk, Business Bay, Meydan, Al Barsha South and Jumeirah Village Circle.
The Gold Line will connect with the Green Line at Al Ghubaiba, the Red Line at Business Bay and Jumeirah Golf Estates, and Etihad Rail at Meydan and Jumeirah Golf Estates. Read our update on Etihad Rail Dubai to Abu Dhabi tickets for the intercity train side of the network.
The easiest way to read the Dubai metro map is to note the terminal station in your direction of travel, because platform signs show the end station rather than north or south.
A Dubai Metro journey is easiest to plan by noting your start code, your end code and any interchange in between. These three common trips show how it works:
The RTA Dubai app and S’hail app plan the full route, including any change at Union or BurJuman, and show the next train times at each station.
These are the main changes to know as of October 2026:
The Dubai metro map is simple once you know its shape: the Red Line along Sheikh Zayed Road with a split at National Paints, the Green Line through Deira and Bur Dubai, and changes at Union and BurJuman. Check the destination screen after National Paints and keep at least AED 7.50 on your nol card.
With the Blue Line due in 2029 and the Gold Line in 2032, the map will grow quickly, so use the official RTA map for the latest station names. For RTA fines, parking and road rules in Dubai, browse our UAE fines and violations guides.
The Dubai metro map has two operating lines, the Red Line and the Green Line, with 55 stations in total. The Blue Line is due in 2029 and the Gold Line in 2032.
The Red Line and Green Line meet at Union and BurJuman stations. You can change lines at either station without leaving the paid area.
Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station on the Red Line is the closest metro station to Burj Khalifa. A covered walkway links the station to The Dubai Mall.
Yes, the Red Line stops at Airport Terminal 1 and Airport Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport. Both stations are near the Centrepoint end of the line.
The Dubai Metro usually opens at 8am on Sunday and runs until midnight. The RTA sometimes opens earlier on Sundays for events and holidays.
Take the Red Line to Sobha Realty or DMCC station and change to the Dubai Tram for Dubai Marina and JBR. Both stations are interchange points with the tram.
The RTA has scheduled the Dubai Metro Blue Line to open on 9 September 2029. It will add 14 stations and 30 km to the Dubai metro map.
