Many UAE residents can enter Armenia without a visa in 2026. This Armenia visa for UAE residents rule is temporary. It depends on your nationality and on how long your UAE residence is still valid.
Armenia lets nationals of 111 countries enter visa free for up to 180 days in a year. They need a valid UAE residence permit with at least 6 months left. The rule runs from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027. This guide shows who qualifies, who does not, and what to do next.
Last verified: October 2026, against the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) visa page, its country list and fee schedule, and notices from Armenian embassies.
Quick answer: UAE residents whose nationality is on the 111 country list, such as Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Egyptian, Sri Lankan and Nepali passport holders, can enter Armenia visa free for up to 180 days within one year. Their UAE residence permit must be valid for at least 6 months from the entry date. Bangladeshi and Nigerian passports are not on the list.
It depends on your passport and your residence. UAE residence alone does not decide it.
Check your nationality in the tables below. Then check your residence validity.
The exemption has two parts. You must hold a listed nationality, and you must hold a qualifying residence permit. Miss one part and the exemption does not apply.
Armenia calls this a temporary visa exemption. The MFA states it applies from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027.
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Who | Nationals of 111 listed countries |
| Residence permit from | UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, USA, an EU state or a Schengen state |
| Permit validity | At least 6 months from your entry date |
| Stay | Up to 180 days within a one year period |
| Permit format | Physical card, or a sticker in the passport |
| Period | 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027 |
Armenia reduced the list from 113 to 111 countries when it renewed the rule. Comparing the MFA’s December 2025 and June 2026 lists, Sudan and Yemen are the two that left.

Count 6 months from the day you enter Armenia. Your permit must still be valid on that date.

Example 1: You enter on 20 October 2026. Your residence expires on 15 March 2027. Six months from entry is 20 April 2027. Your permit ends too early. You do not qualify.
Example 2: You enter on 20 October 2026. Your residence expires on 5 May 2027. You pass the rule.
If you fall short, renew first. Read our guide on UAE residence visa renewal.

The MFA says border officers may accept a permit that shows these details in Latin script:
The permit must be a physical card or a sticker. Screenshots and digital copies are not enough.
The MFA says “physical card or sticker.” The Armenian Embassy in Kuwait adds that these are not accepted: mobile ID, electronic copies, scans, photos and printed or colour copies of the card. Its notice was written for GCC residence cards.
The UAE stopped putting residence stickers in passports in 2022, so for most residents the Emirates ID card is the physical residence document. It shows the name, nationality, date of birth and expiry date in English.
Practical steps:
If your card is lost or being renewed, check your Emirates ID status online before you book.
The list covers nationalities, not residence countries. Find your nationality.
These are common UAE expat passports on the MFA list dated 30 June 2026.
| Region | Passports on the list |
|---|---|
| South Asia | India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal |
| Southeast Asia | Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand |
| Arab countries | Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Libya, State of Palestine, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia |
| Africa | Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia, Senegal, South Africa |
| Other | Canada, Mexico |
The full list has 111 countries. Open the MFA list of 111 countries if your passport is not above.
These nationalities are not on the list:
UAE residence does not give visa free entry to Bangladeshi or Nigerian passport holders.
The UK, Russia and Iran are off the list because their citizens already enter visa free under other rules (see next section).
“Not on the list” does not always mean “cannot enter.” It only means the residence based exemption does not apply. Other routes exist: unilateral exemption, a visa free agreement, an e-Visa or a border visa.

The MFA lists these as visa free for all passport types, on its unilateral exemption list and its visa free agreements list.
| Passport | Source |
|---|---|
| United Arab Emirates | Unilateral exemption, up to 180 days per year |
| Qatar | Unilateral exemption, up to 180 days per year |
| United Kingdom, United States, Australia, New Zealand | Unilateral exemption, up to 180 days per year |
| Most EU states, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Switzerland | Unilateral exemption, up to 180 days per year |
| Russia, Iran, Georgia, China, Ukraine | Visa free agreements, “all types of passports” (stay not stated on the page) |
For India, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait and the Philippines, the MFA lists visa free entry only for certain official passport types, such as diplomatic or service passports. Ordinary passports use the residence rule above.
GCC citizens use their own passport rule, not the residence rule.
If you hold a Saudi, Bahraini, Kuwaiti or Omani passport, confirm with the Armenian embassy before you book.
The visa free stay is up to 180 days within a one year period.
Do not mix this up with “90 days in 180 days.” That is a different rule used by other countries.
The MFA says Armenian visas are issued for up to 120 days and can be extended by 60 days. The Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs handles visitor visa extensions.
That rule is written for visas. If you entered visa free, ask the Migration and Citizenship Service before you plan a longer stay.
Routes depend on your nationality. Check your nationality page on the official MFA site. Depending on your case, you apply online, through an embassy, or use a border visa that officials confirm.
| Your situation | Likely route |
|---|---|
| Nationality on the 111 list, residence under 6 months left | A visa is required. Get it online or through an embassy, depending on nationality. Some nationalities can use a border visa |
| Nationality not on the 111 list | e-Visa, embassy visa or border visa, depending on nationality |
| Residence document is digital, scanned or missing Latin script | Fix the document, or apply for a visa |
| Nationality visa free on its own (UK, US and others) | No visa needed |
Armenia’s e-Visa system is evisa.mfa.am. The MFA lists it as the official portal.

Steps:

Use only the MFA portal. Check the web address before you pay.
A border visa exists for some nationalities. Eligibility depends on your nationality and documents. UAE residence does not give it to everyone.
The Armenian Embassy in India says Indian citizens can get a border visa with a valid visa or residence permit from listed countries. UAE, Saudi, Kuwaiti, Qatari, Bahraini and Omani residence permits are on that list, and the permit must be a physical card or sticker.
Confirm your own eligibility with the MFA and your airline before you fly. Do not plan your trip around a border visa.
The MFA has an invitation only page. It says nationals of 57 countries can apply for a visitor visa only at an Armenian embassy or consulate, and only with an invitation. The page was last updated in February 2024.
In May 2026, Armenia’s Ministry of Environment said the government planned to lift this rule for a time, so that some COP17 participants could apply through the e-Visa system. The MFA list page has not changed since.
If you hold one of the 57 listed passports, check the e-Visa portal or write to the embassy before you travel. The temporary exemption still applies to listed nationalities that hold a qualifying residence permit.
The MFA publishes these visitor visa fees, and the Consulate General of Armenia in Dubai shows the same schedule. They apply from 1 January 2026 and are not refundable.
| Visa type | Fee (AMD) | Stay and validity |
|---|---|---|
| Visitor visa, single entry | 3,000 | Up to 21 days |
| Visitor visa, single entry | 15,000 | Up to 120 days |
| Multiple entry visitor visa | 20,000 | Up to 60 days per stay, 6 months validity |
| Multiple entry visitor visa | 40,000 | Up to 120 days per stay, 1 year validity |
| Transit visa, single | 10,000 | Not stated |
| Transit visa, multiple | 18,000 | 1 year validity |
This is the visitor visa fee schedule. The page does not say which options the online portal offers. The portal shows the options for your nationality before you pay.
Processing time: the Armenian Embassy in India gives about three working days for e-Visas. That page is written for Indian applicants, so other nationalities may wait longer.
Apply at least a week before you travel to leave room for errors.

All four nationalities are on the 111 country list.
| Nationality | Visa free with UAE residence? | Note |
|---|---|---|
| India | Yes, if residence has 6 months left | Insurance and other conditions apply if you use the e-Visa |
| Pakistan | Yes, same rule | Pakistan is on the invitation only list, so use the e-Visa portal or embassy if you do not qualify |
| Philippines | Yes, same rule | Only certain official passport types are visa free on their own |
| Egypt | Yes, same rule | Check e-Visa conditions on the portal |
If you do not use the visa free route, the Armenian Embassy in India lists two e-Visa options for Indian citizens.
The embassy recommends the e-Visa and gives a three working day estimate.
Check the conditions for your nationality on the e-Visa portal. The Indian options above are written for Indian citizens only.
If you qualify for visa free entry with your UAE residence, you skip the e-Visa step.
Nepal and Sri Lanka are on the list too. The same 6 month rule applies. Both also appear on the invitation only list, so if you do not qualify for the exemption, check the e-Visa portal or the embassy.
Bangladesh and Nigeria are not on the 111 country list. Having a UAE residence permit does not change this.
What the MFA shows:
The 111 country list and the e-Visa are two separate things. Being off the list only means the residence based exemption does not apply to you.
What to do:
The same steps apply to Afghan, Yemeni and Sudanese passport holders.
Needed for the visa free route:
Needed if you use the e-Visa:
Commonly advised (not an MFA rule for visa free entry):
Most travellers from the UAE land at Zvartnots Airport in Yerevan. The land borders with Turkey and Azerbaijan are closed.
These are not Armenian rules. They keep your trip from stopping at the UAE airport.
Planning a wider Caucasus trip? Many UAE residents can also visit Azerbaijan with a visa on arrival or an e visa. See our full guide on the Azerbaijan visa for UAE residents.
| Date | Update |
|---|---|
| 1 July 2026 | Temporary exemption renewed to 1 July 2027, list reduced to 111 countries |
| May 2026 | Government plans to ease the invitation only rule for COP17 participants |
| 1 July 2027 | Temporary exemption ends |
Check the MFA page again before you book. Armenia has changed this rule more than once.
Armenia visa for UAE residents is simple once you check two things. Is your passport on the 111 country list? Does your UAE residence have at least 6 months left on your entry date?
If both answers are yes, you can enter visa free and stay up to 180 days within a year. If not, use the e-Visa or ask the embassy. Bangladeshi and Nigerian residents must not assume visa free entry.
Remember three points. The rule is temporary and ends on 1 July 2027. Carry a physical residence document with Latin script. Always check the MFA page before you fly.

It depends on the passport. Many UAE residents can enter visa free if their nationality is on Armenia’s 111 country list and their UAE residence has at least 6 months left. Others need a visa or e-Visa.
Yes, for eligible nationalities. The temporary exemption runs from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027. Not every nationality qualifies.
Yes. Your residence permit must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date.
Up to 180 days within a one year period.
Yes, if their UAE residence has 6 months left and meets the document rules. India is on the 111 country list.
Yes, under the same rule. Pakistan is on the 2026 list.
Bangladesh is not on the 111 country list, so the residence exemption does not apply. Check the e-Visa portal or the Armenian embassy for your route.
Nigeria is not on the 111 country list, so the residence exemption does not apply. Confirm your route with the embassy or the e-Visa portal.
No. UAE citizens are on the MFA visa free list, with up to 180 days per year.
It is the document most UAE residents will show. The MFA asks for a physical card or sticker, and the Emirates ID card is the physical residence document for most UAE residents. Carry the card itself. Mobile, scanned and copied cards are not accepted.
The MFA fee schedule lists AMD 3,000 for a visitor visa up to 21 days and AMD 15,000 for up to 120 days. Multiple entry visas cost AMD 20,000 or AMD 40,000. The portal shows which options you can choose.
Some nationalities can get a border visa. The Armenian embassies in India and Kuwait mention Indian, Egyptian, Iraqi and Filipino nationals. It depends on nationality and documents, so confirm before you fly.
Until 1 July 2027.
Armenian visas can be extended by 60 days through the Migration and Citizenship Service. If you entered visa free, ask the Service before you plan a longer stay.
